Valentine1 Integration

Anybody capable of developing a DigitalMod to integrate the Valentine1 radar detector? There is hardware available (http://www.v1connect.com/) and plugins are currently being written for this hardware for other frontends. Would be great to see this integrated into Streetdeck.

The hardest part of writing that plugin would be ensuring the the hardware connection is detected and working properly, which could be helped by testing with the "official" v1connect app.

Straight serial is easy, it either works or it doesn't. However most computers now don't have a serial port so the USB->Serial dongle would need drivers. The most reliable one I've seen are FTDI chipset based, the cheap chinese ones normally have serious driver issues...ie they don't support anything other than the two IO pins.

All that is involved is connecting to the serial port and reading data. No data, no device present. Interacting with the V1Connect is simple and development of a plugin should be no problem to someone who has done one before.

FYI the serial -> USB adapter that V1Connect also sells uses the Prolific chipset. No issues what so ever with that adapter and the hardware.

O and yes I am the maker of the V1Connect, just in case its asked. I will help in anyway possible with the DigiMod.

I saw the sim on the webpage.

I'll see if I can make a simple plugin in the next few days, using sim only.

Great product idea, btw

Have you had a chance to work on a simple plugin yet? If not but you want to start on a plugin with the real device let me know. I would be willing to work out a deal on my device if you develop a fully working plugin.

Hmmm ... I've always wanted a radar detector integrated into my carputer. Does the SIM also accept commands from the plugin? I'll put it on my list of mods once I get going on making some. I used to have a job that required all my time, but my current job allows me to have alot more time to develop. I need to finish my FB4 plugin before I start anything else.

Yes the simulator is just like the real hardware/V1 combo. Is sends and receives combos.

I've got the sim and streetdeck communicating, but need to make the interface a bit (ok, a lot) more attractive

Simple ASCII comms are nice to work with :)

You know, it's funny. We can make SD do whatever we need, but when it comes to the UI. Most of us suck ...lol
